Biography
Jiřà Vencovský received his M.D. from the Charles University and specialized in internal medicine, rheumatology and medical immunology while working in the Institute of Rheumatology in Prague. He is the head of Research Department of the institute and professor of medicine at the 1st Medical Faculty. Several times he was a visiting scientist at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology in London. He currently serves as a President of the Czech Society of Rheumatology and was an Editor of the journal Czech Rheumatology in 1998-2013. His research interests include inflammatory idiopathic myopathies, autoantibodies in rheumatic diseases and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. He published around 300 scientific papers, reviews and book chapters and was several times an invited speaker to international congresses.
