Biography
Marianne de Visser (1950) has worked since 1982 as a neurologist at the Academic Medical Centre of the University of Amsterdam. In addition to this she has been Professor of Neuromuscular Diseases at the University of Amsterdam since 1993. De Visser studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam and passed her medical finals in 1975. She has been a neurologist since 1980. In 1981 she obtained her doctorate. Her research focuses on the pathogenesis of inherited and non-inherited neuromuscular diseases.From 1999 to 2009 she was a board member of the Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development (ZonMw), a division of NWO.
